Eames Lounge Chair
Summary
The Eames Lounge Chair from Herman Miller was designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1956 and it endures as one of the world’s most recognizable and coveted designs. Today, it’s still made by hand and is offered in dozens of finishes, fabrics, and two sizes to suit your office’s needs. Shells feature seven-ply veneers and cushions are individually upholstered and replaceable. The back braces and bases of both the chair and ottoman are die-cast aluminum. It features shock mounts and a tilted seat that takes the weight off the lower spine when sitting. The angle supports the chest as one lounges, and the built-in swivel mechanism further enhances relaxation.

A universally recognized form that brings comfort and style to interiors everywhere
When the set was introduced in 1956, there was nothing like it, and there is still nothing equal to it. The Eameses’ modern take on a nineteenth century club chair has not only endured for more than 50 years, it has become one of the most significant furniture designs of the twentieth century—instantly recognizable and enduringly fresh.

“A special refuge from the strains of modern living”

Same design, lighter footprint
In keeping with our longstanding focus on environmental stewardship, we added bamboo as an upholstery option for the lounge and ottoman. Bamboo is highly renewable and still delivers the high-quality experience worthy of this iconic design. Upholstering Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman in material derived from bamboo helps us reduce the materials carbon footprint of the chair by up to 35 percent.
