Ethan Cook Flat Works
Summary
Inspired by his decorative woven wall art, Ethan Cook’s Flat Works is a series of handwoven kelim rugs designed for HAY. Featuring a geometric abstract design, the rugs translate the designer’s bold colour-blocked artwork into practical and decorative items. Crafted in a New Zealand wool-cotton blend, the dyeing and weaving processes mean that each rug varies slightly, giving them a unique, one-of-a-kind quality. Available in different sizes and colour combinations, the rugs are suitable for use in the bedroom, hallway, living room and many other interior spaces.

Ethan Cook
Ethan Cook is an American designer, born in a small town in Texas. In 2008 he moved to New York to live and work as a contemporary artist and designer. Cook is known for his abstract, geometric ‘paintings’ from sewn-together pieces of canvas. He weaves them from old colored cotton and a four-harness flower loom, so his work does not contain any paint. For Cook, the performance of art making is meditative as well as intensely rhythmic. His minimalistic work has been recognized and exhibited since 2009, with solo exhibitions since 2014. For HAY, Cook designed the Flat Works Collection.
