At first glance, HAY’s new O2 Lounge Chair presents a voluminous, inviting form – lightweight, strikingly open, and minimalist in its appearance. But behind its distinctive silhouette lies a process that’s anything but ordinary.

Jonas Forsman

Born in Sweden in 1979, Jonas Forsman is an award-winning industrial designer. He studied Furniture at Stenebyskolan, before graduating with a Master’s degree in Industrial Design Engineering from Chalmers University of Technology. He currently lives in Gothenburg, Sweden, where he operates his own design studio, specialising in furniture and product design. Drawing on mechanical solutions and exploring the possibilities of materials and fabrics, he strives to reduce each product to its essence – creating functional, innovative objects that go beyond aesthetics.  His works have been exhibited in Göteborg, Stockholm, and Milan several times and have received several Red Dot awards.
